Still Clocking In, But Dreaming Bigger
There’s something about October.
The air feels heavier, quieter, more reflective. You start to notice the shift — not just in the seasons, but in yourself. Maybe it’s the earlier sunsets or the way the year starts to whisper its closing thoughts. But around this time, people begin to reflect: Is this really what I want to be doing next year?
And if you’re like many of the people I meet through JVB Consults, that reflection can stir a complicated truth:
You’re still clocking in, but your heart is somewhere else.
Maybe it’s the business idea you can’t shake.
The vision that wakes you up in the middle of the night.
The tug to create something of your own, even if you’re not quite ready yet.
Let me tell you — that’s not a failure. That’s a seed.
There is no shame in working a W-2 job while building your dream. There is no expiration date on entrepreneurship. And there is no weakness in choosing stability while strategizing your next move. In fact, one of the most powerful things you can do is acknowledge that your 9-to-5 may be funding the early stages of your vision. It’s not the end of your story — it’s part of the strategy.
But Preparation Is Key!
If you feel the shift happening, don’t ignore it.
Use it.
Write your ideas down.
Create a budget.
Study your market.
Start the outline of your exit plan.
Because when the new year arrives — and the world starts screaming about “new beginnings” — you’ll already be grounded in something real.
This month, I want you to give yourself permission to dream bigger while staying present.
You can honor your responsibilities and still build a life beyond them.
You can show up for your job and show up for yourself.
The two aren’t mutually exclusive — they’re fuel for each other when done intentionally.
October is about transition, clarity, and vision.
So let this be the month where you stop shaming yourself for where you are and start preparing — boldly, quietly, wisely — for where you’re going.
Because that dream?
It’s valid.
It’s waiting.
And so are you.
Until Next Time,
Be Kind With Yourself. Be Patient With Yourself.
All My Best,
– JVB
