Not Every Offer Is The Right One

Happy May 2025, JVB Consults Readers!
If you’ve been paying attention to the current shift in the business landscape, you’ve likely noticed it too: more and more small businesses are being approached by larger corporations—some offering major buyouts, others dangling tempting partnerships, and a few making unsolicited proposals altogether. I’ve had several friends and clients share stories about these moments, often with a mixture of pride, confusion, and deep contemplation.
On the surface, it can feel like a dream come true. After all, what entrepreneur hasn’t imagined the day their business catches the eye of an industry giant? It can feel like validation. Like the years of sweat, stress, and sacrifice have finally produced something tangible.
Something marketable. Something valuable.
But Here’s The Truth:
The decision to sell your business is never just a business decision.
It’s personal. It’s emotional. And it deserves deep thought.
It’s about more than a payout—it’s about purpose. About your long-term vision. About the legacy you’re building, not just the brand you’ve created. Are you selling because it moves you closer to the life and impact you’re designing—or because you’re tired, burnt out, or simply curious about what comes next?
There is no wrong answer. But there is a right time. And knowing the difference between the two will require stillness, self-honesty, and a willingness to see beyond the offer on the table.
A great opportunity doesn’t always mean it’s the right opportunity. And just because something looks golden on paper doesn’t mean it aligns with the future you envision for yourself or your business. Sometimes the real power is in saying, not yet. Or even, not at all.
This month, I invite you to think about the bigger picture—not just of your business, but of your why. Because no one knows your journey like you do. And no one gets to decide your next chapter but you.
You’re not just building for today. You’re building for impact, for freedom, and for the legacy that only you can define.
Until Next Time,
Be Kind With Yourself. Be Patient With Yourself.
All My Best,
- JVB
